Myung Hee Cho is set and costume designer for theatre, opera, dance and other special productions. Myung Hee recently designed sets and costumes for Emotional Creature by Eve Ensler at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, directed by Jo Bonney; The Other Place at The Magic, directed by Loretta Greco and The Magic Flute at the Canadian Opera Company, directed by Diane Paulus. She designed many world premiers, including: Emotional Creature at The Market Theatre, Johannesburg, South Africa and Cine 13, Paris, France; Extraordinary Chambers by David Wiener at Geffen Playhouse; Fear of Writing for TheaterWorks, Singapore; Futura by Jordan Harrison at Boston Court. Other design credits include The Good Person of Szechuan at the Landestheater, Linz, Austria; Back to Bacharach and David; Awaking for Singapore Theatre Festival; Yellow Face by David Henry Hwang at the Mark Taper Forum and The Public Theater; The Word Begins at The Signature Theatre, Washington DC; Goldfish by John Kolvenbach, System Wonderland by David Wiener and The Piano Teacher by Julia Cho at South Coast Repertory; Isle of Dunes for Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company; Citizen 13559 at the Kennedy Center; The Golden Mickeys for Disney Creative Entertainment/Hong Kong; Le nozze di Figaro at the Chicago Opera Theater; Open Window for Pasadena Playhouse and Deaf West Theatre; Flight and Distant Shore at Center Theatre Group/Kirk Douglas Theatre.
Myung Hee designed the celebrated production of WIT and Lackawanna Blues that toured North America. Her designs have been seen at the McCarter Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Long Wharf Theatre, Classic Stage Company, A.C.T./SF, Intiman Theatre, The Public Theater, Union Square Theatre, Manhattan Class Company, Vineyard Theatre, Music Theatre Group, East West Players, Singapore Repertory, Women's Project and Productions, Center Stage, Prince Music Theatre, New York Stage & Film, New York Theatre Workshop, Children's Theatre Company, Second Stage/NY, Boston Court and many more.
She served as production designer for V-Day/VAGINA MONOLOGUES Benefits at the Wiltern Theatre, The Apollo Theatre, Madison Square Garden and the Masonic Center.
Ms. Cho has been nominated for The Hewes Design Awards and recipient of the Princess Grace Award. She is an Assistant Professor of Stage Design at UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.
